Used Temac slitter rewinders: when quality continues to generate value

In the converting and flexible packaging industry, a slitter rewinder is not simply a production machine: it is an investment that affects operating continuity, the quality of the finished product and the overall efficiency of the plant.
For this reason, when a machine continues to operate correctly even after many years, its value does not end with its first life cycle. Temac slitter rewinders are designed and built precisely with this philosophy: to last over time, maintain reliable performance and continue producing for decades.
Machines designed to last
The long operating life of Temac machines is the result of precise design and construction choices. Reliable components, solid structural fabrication and cutting-edge technologies allow slitter rewinders to handle intensive production cycles while maintaining stability, precision and safety.
This robustness means that many Temac machines remain on the market for a long time, continuing to represent a concrete production asset even after years of operation. In many cases, proper routine maintenance is enough to ensure long service continuity for the slitter rewinder.
Periodic inspections, replacement of consumables, checks on mechanical components and attention to the overall condition of the machine help preserve performance and prevent unplanned downtime. When carried out regularly, maintenance is one of the key factors in extending the useful life of a slitter rewinder.
Why replace a machine that still works?
A customer may decide to replace a Temac slitter rewinder even when the machine is still able to produce correctly. This is not necessarily due to a performance issue, but is often a strategic choice.
Many companies choose to renew their machine fleet in order to standardize the technologies used in the production department and work with latest-generation systems throughout. This aspect is particularly important in terms of software, electronics and data management.
Having more recent machines makes it possible to:
• standardize working methods across different systems;
• gain greater control over production;
• optimize the use of energy resources;
• facilitate data exchange between the machine and company systems;
• more easily integrate the technologies required from an Industry 4.0 perspective.
In a production context that is increasingly focused on traceability, efficiency and digitalization, renewing the machine fleet can therefore be a useful choice to increase process control and access new investment opportunities.
Temac used machine trade-in
When a customer chooses to purchase a new slitter rewinder, Temac may be available to take back a used machine of its own production. This option makes it possible to enhance the value of machines that, although they have already worked for years, still retain a solid structure and significant production potential.
The trade-in of a used machine generally takes place in connection with the sale of a new machine. Once the machine has returned, Temac carries out a technical assessment of the slitter rewinder’s condition and proceeds with a complete overhaul, defined according to its initial state.
The aim is to restore the machine to a level of reliability suitable for a new production use, intervening on parts subject to wear and on elements that require restoration or replacement.
Complete overhaul and new certification
The overhaul process may include various activities, depending on the condition of the machine and the needs of the new buyer.
Temac replaces consumables, checks mechanical and electronic parts, replaces or repairs rewinding shafts and restores the complete supply. When necessary, damaged parts or components no longer suitable to ensure reliable operation are also replaced.
At the request of the new buyer, it is also possible to evaluate minor upgrades, compatible with the machine configuration and specific production requirements. At the end of the interventions, the slitter rewinder is certified again, offering greater guarantees in terms of safety and compliance.
This approach gives new life to quality machines, reducing waste and enhancing the value of a technical investment that still retains a high level of production usefulness.
Two concrete examples of overhauled slitter rewinders
Among the recent examples of Temac machines returned for overhaul are two slitter rewinders built respectively in 2014 and 2012.
The first is an EMS 610/S, year 2014, with a machine width of 1,700 mm and a useful web width of 1,600 mm. The machine ended its production activity at the previous customer’s site because it was no longer intended for slitting, while still maintaining interesting construction features for a possible new use after overhaul.

The second is a TSW 801/S, year 2012, with a machine width of 1,100 mm and a useful web width of 1,000 mm. In this case, the customer chose to purchase a new machine with a greater useful width, as part of a machine fleet renewal project.
Both cases show how a Temac slitter rewinder can retain its value over time. Even after many years of production, a machine built with reliable components and a solid structure can be recovered, overhauled and placed back on the market.

A sustainable and cost-effective choice
Overhauling a used slitter rewinder is an interesting solution both from an economic and environmental point of view. For the buyer, it means being able to access a Temac machine at lower costs than a new one, but with the technical support of the manufacturer and an overhaul carried out by those who know the original project perfectly.
For those renewing their machine fleet, the trade-in of a used machine makes it possible to enhance the value of a machine that is no longer strategic for their production, facilitating investment in more recent technologies.
In both cases, the value of construction quality emerges clearly: a well-designed machine does not necessarily end its life cycle when it is replaced by its first user. It can continue to produce, evolve and respond to new needs.
Temac, machines built for the future
Temac has always designed and manufactured slitter rewinders, packaging machines and special machines on request, with particular attention to structural solidity, reliability and long-term durability.
The trade-in and overhaul of used Temac machines confirm this philosophy: building machines capable of maintaining value even after years of work, offering concrete solutions to those who want to renew, optimize or expand their production.
Because a robust, well-maintained and properly overhauled machine is not just a used machine. It is a new production opportunity.
